The Dzodze Traditional Council has lauded the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for introducing “life-changing” policies that have transformed the lives of the people in communities within its jurisdiction, ABC News can report.
During a visit to the Jubilee House, Monday, the Chief of Dzodze Fiagbedu, Togbe Dey III, who led the delegation, said policies such as One-District, One-Factory, Planting for Jobs, and the Nation Builders Corps, among others, are changing the lives of the people within his communities.
“We are here to inform you that we are seeing a transformation in our communities. We are seeing transformation in the lives of our people, and that we are sensing a brighter future for our children and the generations yet unborn.”
“The incredible and remarkable successes chalked by your government within the short period bear it all. Your audacious and life-changing policies and programmes have inspired hope in us and we are very excited about the future of this country and the future of our children,” Togbe Dey III said.
“Our chiefs are not oblivious of the fact that we are not politicians. Nonetheless, we have an interest in politics. Our interest lies in the development of our communities and our people. Our interest lies in the kind of future our leaders are bequeathing to our people and generations yet to come,” he added.
Togbe Dey III commended the President for actualising the Keta Harbour Project and the Ketu South-Berekuso Sea Defence Project, all of which he said will further bring relief to the people in the Region.
He also applauded the President for elevating the Ketu North District to a Municipal status with Dzodze as its capital.
The Chief said many promises made by the President during his visit to Dzodze in the run-up to the 2016 elections have been fulfilled, giving them hope for the future.
“You promised us free SHS and you have given us. The lives of our farmers are being transformed through the Planting For Food and Jobs Programme. Your government has put up an ultra-modern warehouse facility in our district to help manage post-harvest loses that have been the bane of our farmers over the years,” Togbe Dey III said.
On One-District-One-Factory, the Chief of Dzodze Fiagbedu said, “You promised us One-District-One-Factory. Today we at the Ketu North Municipality are at an advanced stage and are ready for take-off. We are very enthused about the prospects of this project and cannot wait to see it happen.”
He also lauded government’s efforts at tackling youth unemployment saying “you promised jobs for our teeming unemployed youth, today when we see our youth, we see NABCO, we see Youth in Afforestation, we see teachers under the Double Track System.”
“You promised us to bring peace. Today, when we see Dagbon we see true peace and for us. It is not by coincidence that our own son Kofi, who is a royal himself, will be the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs at the time your government achieves this historic feat. Your government’s role in maintaining peace and tranquillity in our region, cannot go without mention,” Togbe Dey III added.
