Deputy General Secretary of the opposition NDC, Peter Boamah Otokunor has chastised the Jean Mensah led Electoral Commission for what he describes as their consistent arrogance and disrespect towards dissenting opinions.
The Deputy General Secretary of the NDC cannot understand why the Electoral Commission is bent on the compilation of a new voters’ register despite the widespread opposition to the agenda.
According to Otukonor, the uncompromising position taken by EC is a true reflection of their disrespect and arrogance as far as opposing views are concerned.
Increase voting time to avoid overcrowding at polling centers – Ben Ephson advises EC
In a social media post sighted by ABC News, the NDC national executive noted that the country is in for a bigger crisis if the EC is allowed to proceed with their planned voter registration exercise.
Justifying these claims, he questioned the logic in the EC proceeding with the nationwide registration exercise if it could not organize an IPAC meeting where all stakeholders will be gathered in an auditorium.
“The arrogance, intransigence and the disrespect for the EC is repulsive and repugnant!,” Peter Boamah Otukonor fumed in a Facebook post.
He quizzed “so you can’t organize a single IPAC meeting, yet you can organize a mass voter registration exercise at the polling stations? #ChopBarLogic.”
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission after an IPAC meeting yesterday announced that all is set for it to commence the compilation of new voter registration exercise.
According to the statement signed by the PRO, Sylvia Annor, the exercise is set to begin in the last week of June through to the end of the month of July.
