The People’s National Convention (PNC) has said it has not reviewed the suspension of its General Secretary Atik Mohammed.
The PNC suspended Mr. Atik Mohammed in July 2017 at a National Executive Committee Meeting of the party following widespread complaints of his incompetence and his disregard for his official duties.
The announcement by the PNC comes after Mr. Atik Mohammed was reported to have asked The Ghana Police Service to immediately invite the party’s National Chairman, Bernard Mornah, over comments he made against the Electoral Commission.
A statement signed by the acting General Secretary of the party, Jacob Amoako said ”For the umpteenth time, the PNC is compelled to reiterate the decision to suspend Atik Mohammed as the General Secretary of the Party.”
”That suspension has not been reviewed by the party and as such he still stands suspended. Unfortunately, the media and some other organizations and institutions for unknown reasons continue to engage, describe and acknowledge him as the General Secretary of the PNC,” the statement said.
It further said ”The Party is thus compelled to issue this statement to set the records straight and to appeal to and remind the generality of the Ghanaian public not to accord Atik Mohammed any courtesies bordering the position of the General Secretary of the PNC.”
