Popular reggae and dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, widely known as Shatta Wale has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service over an alleged fake gun attack.
The artiste and some other persons were declared wanted by the police after the alleged gun attack on Monday night when the police could not trace his whereabouts following the news that he has sustained gunshot wounds.
According to the police, the Shatta Wale turned himself in on Tuesday evening after the Police had declared him wanted.
According to a social media announcement by the Police Administration, the service indicated that, “the Police have arrested Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale. After we publicly declared him and one other person wanted, the suspect, Shatta Wale, turned himself in today Tuesday 19th October, 2021, at 8.59pm.
“He has been arrested to assist the Police in investigations for his alleged involvement in the creation and circulation of information intended to cause fear and panic,” the Service further added,” the statement added.
The again advised the public to desist from publishing false information, capable of disturbing the peace of the country or risk being arrested and prosecuted.
Meanwhile, two other persons, Kojo Owusu Koranteng and Eric Venator according to Police report circulated false information with regards to Shatta Wale’s safety with the intention to cause fear and panic.
They have also been apprehended.
