Deputy General Secretary of the ruling NPP, Nana Obiri Boahen has sent a note of caution to the opposition NDC and John Dramani Mahama that they can never intimidate the NPP in the 2024 General Elections.

According to Nana Obiri Boahen, the NPP also has the men who are capable of defending the ballot irrespective of the threats and insinuations of the NDC and John Dramani Mahama.

This reaction from the NPP stalwart comes after former President John Mahama said that the National Democratic Congress will be very vigilant at the polling stations during the 2024 elections.

Mahama’s ‘do or die’ comment not about violence – Kwakye Ofosu clarifies

Mr. Mahama who was speaking on a Techiman-based radio station, Akina FM, as part of his Thank You Tour stated that the 2020 elections taught the NDC that elections can only be won at the polling stations, thus they will not let their guards down again.

But Nana Obiri Boahen has indicated that they can’t be bullied by the NDC adding that such a comment purported to have come from the former president is unfortunate.

“Permit me to use this opportunity to send an advice to the former President and the NDC, certainly they cannot intimidate us. Certainly not, mark my words. Certainly not,” the deputy general secretary of NPP indicated.

“We are all prepared to defend and protect the democratic credentials of this country. However, if they want to push us to the wall to humiliate us, to bully us, that can never be possible. We are not cowards, we are men,” he said.

He added, “in all honesty, I think that statement was quite unfortunate. Unfortunate in the sense that in conducting elections we go through a lot of processes and therefore it will be wrong to take the position that the polling stations will determine as to whether a party is going to win an election or lose it.”
