An up-and-coming musician has allegedly been shot dead by his landlord for refusing to pack out of a room rented to him.
The deceased, Spark Benjamine, was shot at close range by his landlord, Victor Stephen Nana Kankam for refusing to vacate the said property.
According to eyewitness accounts, the landlord stormed his Ofankor residence on Sunday, May, 24, 2020, and demanded the deceased immediately pack out and hand over his keys to him.
But the deceased is said to have counter-argued that his rent will be due in a few hours, that is the midnight of that fateful day and hence told the landlord to give him more time to pack his things.
This led to an argument between the two, where the landlord allegedly shot Benjamine multiple times.
Friends of the musician and other onlookers subsequently rushed the budding musician to the police station with the gunshot wounds and in a state of unconsciousness.
He was however declared dead on arrival at the Police Hospital here in Accra.
The Ofankor District Police Commander, DSP George Asare, then led a team of police personnel to the crime scene where they met a pool of blood at the entrance of the deceased’s rented apartment as well as four spent shells.
The police proceeded to the landlord’s residence also at Ofankor and arrested him, searched his room, and retrieved two pump action guns loaded with seven and eight rounds of cartridges each.
Police say in custody assisting in further investigation.
