The Ashanti Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) has announced to the general public that the department will be embarking on a special exercise to inspect the license of all drivers in the coming days.

According to the department, the exercise which is dubbed “Operation produce your driver’s license” is purposely initiated as part of the Service’s measures to check road crashes in the region and ensure that only qualified drivers are allowed on our roads, as dictated by law.

In a press statement released by the Ashanti Regional MTTD, the department indicated that the operation, which will take effect from Monday, February 3, 2020 will ensure that there is vigorous enforcement of the law as stipulated by the Regulation 47 of the Road Traffic Regulation L. I. 2180/2012.

“The Ashanti Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) as part measures to reduce Road Crashes within the Ashanti Region will be embarking on a special operation dubbed “OPERATION PRODUCE YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE,”  the portions of the press statement read.

In view of this exercise, road users, especially drivers are ” advised to carry {their} driver’s license while driving on the road.”

The department further stated that failure to comply with this operation will result in arrest and possible prosecution.
