Trump National, a golf course owned by Donald Trump has been stripped of the opportunity to host the US PGA Championship in 2022.
Organizers of the tournament, PGA of America, terminated the agreement with Trump National on Sunday, saying that they felt using the course as host would be “detrimental” to their brand.
“It was a decision made to ensure the PGA of America and PGA professionals can continue to lead and grow our game for decades to come.”
Turnberry’s Ailsa course has hosted The Open on four occasions since it first staged the championship in 1977, most recently in 2009.
The PGA of America is now searching for a replacement host for one of the game’s biggest four men’s individual events.
It would be recalled that Facebook and Twitter have banned Donald Trump indefinitely from their platform for the same reason – his contribution the the infamous Capitol riot.
