Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has charged supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to widely proclaim the achievements of the NPP Government as it moves to seek reelection in 2020, ABC News can report.

He expressed delight that the NPP Government has since its assumption of office in 2017, undertaken numerous initiatives in fulfillment of its campaign promises.

Speaking at the NPP National Delegates Conference, President Kufuor, however entreated supporters of the party to “spread the good news of the government” if it wished to secure “multiple successive mandates.”

“If we do not trumpet our achievements, and they are many, no one will tell them for us,” the former President warned.

“We are called upon to have a missionary zeal in the work of governance and at the same time spread the good news of the New Patriotic Party government,” he added.

President Kufour noted that he has has come to realize that Ghanaians share in the vision of the NPP and know that “it is our party that can bring the transformation that our nation yearns for.”

“I have come to the firm conclusion over my very long service in politics to our nation and party Ghanaians naturally love our party [the NPP]. They share in our vision of development and freedom, our respect for the private individual and enterprise and our liberal democratic outlook. They know that it is our party that can bring the transformation that our nation yearns for,” he said.

More than 6,000 delegates from across the 16 regions are participating in the conference which is ongoing at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra.

The platform allowed for deliberations and resolutions and other matters of the party’s interest ahead of next year’s presidential and parliamentary elections.
