US-based South African comedian Trevor Noah will host next year’s Grammy Awards, the organizers have announced.
Noah in a response said he was “thrilled” by the decision.
“Despite the fact that I am extremely disappointed that the Grammys have refused to have me sing or be nominated for best pop album, I am thrilled to be hosting this auspicious event.
“I think as a one-time Grammy nominee, I am the best person to provide a shoulder to all the amazing artists who do not win on the night because I too know the pain of not winning the award!”
Harvey Mason Jr, the chair and interim president of the Recording Academy, said the Daily Show host, Noah was the “best choice” as host.
This year’s Grammy Awards is the 63rd edition and their the a total of 83 awards to be won on the night.
