The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has dismissed claims that a portrait of former President John Dramani Mahama has been hung in his office.
According to him, that assertion cannot be accurate since only the portrait of President Akufo-Addo has been displayed in his office.
This comes on the heels of a viral picture on social media and mainstream media which captures the Speaker posing for a picture with an image of the 2020 NDC flagbearer displayed in his office.
But Mr Bagbin says that publication is false and misleading and is intended to court disaffection for him.
A statement issued by Parliament’s Public Affairs Directorate on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, described the publication as “spurious, malicious and unsubstantiated.”
“The attention of the office of the speaker of parliament has been drawn to publication circulating on social media under the heading ‘Bagbin causes stir by hanging Mahama’s portrait in his office instead of Nana Addo.”
“For purposes of emphasis, at no point in time has the portrait of ex-President John Dramani Mahama been hung in the office of the Rt. Honourable Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.”
