Ghana’s chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers have cautioned the general public to desist from making misogynistic comments against former President John Mahama’s running mater, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

According to FIDA-Ghana, making such comments will further deter women from engaging in party politics and leadership roles.

In a statement signed by the President of group, Afua Addotey, FIDA-Ghana expressed concern about the low level of female participation in governance and called on government to fulfill the promise of passing the Affirmative Action Bill into Law before the end of 2020.

FIDA-Ghana extended their congratulations to Prof Opoku-Agyemang with hope that her appointment gives room for more female participation in the top political hierarchy of governance.
