A fatal accident involving two passenger buses on the on the Tema – Aflao highway Friday left six people dead while fifteen others sustained  various degrees of injury, ABC News can report.

A Toyota Hiace bus with the registration number  GT 9125 – 12 was said to be heading towards Tema when it collided head-on with a Sprinter mini bus with registration GC 7364 – 12 heading towards Aflao at Sege.

Six persons, including the drivers of the two buses, were reported to have died on the spot after the collision.

Briefing journalists on the incident, the Sege Police Commander, DSP George Aboagye said the driver of the Toyota Hiace bus, in an attempt to avoid a motorbike parked by the roadside, rammed into the Sprinter bus.

He said the injured persons were rushed to the Battor Catholic Hospital for treatment while the deceased have been sent to the morgue.

DSP Aboagye revealed that earlier that evening, another road crash occurred at Kasseh on the same road which also left many people severely injured.

Meanwhile, some residents of Sege have expressed frustration at the extent to which some drivers who use the Tema-Aflao road speed, putting their lives and those of their passengers in danger.

It is reported that the police had to disperse an angry crowd near Sege after a speeding vehicle knocked down a pedestrian few weeks ago.
