Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has assured the Rent Control Department that its operations will soon benefit from the government’s digitization agenda.
Dr Bawumia made this known when he paid an unannounced visit to the Department on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, to obtain first-hand information on the current state of its operations.
Addressing the staff, Dr Bawumia expressed dissatisfaction with the manual way things were being done at the department.
In view of this, he assured the staff that the government is set to modernize and digitize the department to conform with the world best practices.
“This morning, I visited the Rent Control Department to observe their operations and understand their challenges. I was accompanied by the Minister for Works and Housing Hon. Atta Akyea and his deputy Hon. Mrs Barbara Ayisi,” a post on the Social Media page of the Veep read.
He further added that “I announced the decision of the government to digitize the operations of the Rent Control Department.”
“With digitization, landlords and tenants will have an option to register as well as submit their tenancy agreements electronically. This will reduce the queues at the office and enhance efficiency. Each property will be uniquely identified by the digital property address. From next year all complaints by tenants or landlords can be filed online,” he further stated.
