Since the demise of former President Jerry John Rawlings, some Ghanaian celebrities have been expressing their shock and eulogizing him, but Dancehall Artiste, Shatta Wale has chosen to make a comment typical of his controversial nature.

In his Facebook post about the death of the former president, Wale wrote that some prophets in the country will soon claim the death of Rawlings was revealed to them by God before it happened.

“I know one Prophet, he will come out and say that he said it on 31st Dec 2019 that a great Ghanaian Hero will die in 2020… He will come p3333!…. We are waiting for them.. Azaaaa asofo),” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Several other celebrities in Ghana and elsewhere on the continent have all been expressing their shock and fond memories of the late former president. Some of them shared photos of them and Rawlings on social media.

Rawlings was seen as a champion for the poor but came to be criticized for alleged human rights abuses during his eleven years of military rule between 1981 and 1992.

He died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Thursday, November 12, 2020 after being admitted at the hospital due to COVID-19 complication.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has promised to give him a befitting passage into eternity as a former president and founder of Ghana’s Fourth Republic.

The honor begun today with a seven-day national mourning during which all flags across the country will fly at half mast.

Meanwhile, the two top political parties, NPP led by President Akufo-Addo, and the NDC of which the late former president was the founder, have both suspended their electioneering campaigns to mourn the deceased.
