President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced a 50% salary allowance for all frontline health workers for three months, effective March 2020.

He made the announcement during his fifth televised address to the nation over the COVID-19 pandemic. The president also disclosed that an insurance package of ¢350,000 has been allotted for each frontline health worker and a daily allowance of ¢150.00 for all contact tracers.

“Furthermore, all frontline health workers will receive an additional allowance of fifty per cent (50%) of their basic salary per month. I.e for March, April, May, and June.”

“An insurance package of an assured sum of ¢350,000 for each health personnel and allied professional at the forefront of the fight, has been put in place with a daily allowance of one hundred and fifty Ghana cedis for contact tracers.”

These incentives are expected to boost the morale of frontline health workers as the country intensifies its fight against the deadly viral outbreak.
