Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has appealed to leaders of the Christian Community to bear her up in their prayers for the upcoming December elections.
She made the comments while she was being presented to the Christian clergy today by leaders of the opposition National Democratic Congress.
According to Prof Naana Jane, it is out of faith, courage and trust that the former President gave her such a position and she needs the prayers of the men of God to be able to live up to the expectations.
“I don’t think if you asked me a year ago, six months, 3 months ago, I would have imagined I would be standing here, it’s all parts of God’s plan and I’m here to thank our flagbearer for this singular act. I see it as an act of faith, I see it as an act of courage, I also see it as an act of trust, therefore I’m here to seek your prayers, above everything.
“Please continue to add your prayers and voices to our flagbearer for selecting a woman in my person, I don’t think it is for nothing,” she added.
On his part, Chairman of the Party, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofoh said the Party’s believe in the direction and blessings of God prompted the move to meet with religious leaders before the party started campaign.
“In all that we do we make God first and that is why before the running mate even hit the grounds running, the party saw it wise to present her to our fathers, our shepherds and our spiritual gatekeepers of the nation to receive blessings from you, to receive direction from you and to be able to step out with the full knowledge that it is not by our might but it is the spirit of God which will be taking us through,” he said.
Among some of the members of the NDC present at the meeting were the National campaign manager of the NDC, Joshua Alabi, Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Joseph Ade Coker, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Sam George, MP for Ningo Prampram.
