The Interpol at the border between Ghana and Burkina Faso has arrested a businessman, suspected to be the killer of Otumfuo’s Asamponhehe, ABC News can report.

The Asamponhene, known as Oheneba Kwadwo Afodour, was reportedly found dead in his car on the Ejura-Nkoranza road in the Ashanti Region with multiple stab wounds on Sunday, August 18, 2019.

Following the murder of the chief, Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ASP Godwin Ahianyoh, who confirmed the death to Joy News, hinted that the circumstances surrounding his death present a possible case of contract killing.

The PRO added that subsequent probe into the matter led to the arrest of a man considered to be a close confidant of the deceased, barely 24-hours after the high-profile murder.

Per information gathered by ABC News, the arrest of the businessman who was on the wanted list of the Police in connection with the murder brings to two, the number of suspects captured.

The businessman arrested at the border by Interpol is alleged to have been present at one of the last meetings the late Oheneba Kwadwo Aforduor attended and is suspected to be the mastermind behind the murder.

His sudden disappearance and subsequent turning off of his mobile phones heightened the suspicion of the police who have been on his heels till his arrest.
