Nigerian musician, D’banj is demanding a sum of N100 million ($257,731.95) within 48 hours from a lady who accused him of rape or face legal action.
D’banj made the demands in response to an allegation by one Miss Seyitan that he raped her in a hotel in Victoria Islands, Lagos two years ago.
Reacting to the allegations, D’banj said the lady’s accusation is a ploy to destroy his reputation and dent his marriage.
According to the musician, he wanted to stay silent but realized people were buying into the lady’s story.
“I have chosen to do so because the incident is a slap to my marriage and my beautiful wife, my entire family and those who believe in me. I did not want to dignify the slurs with a response but it appears my silence has empowered my accusers to think I have been scared into the shadows so I would like to state that these accusations are false and ludicrous and have been handed over to my legal team,” he said on Instagram.
In the pre-litigation letter signed by his lawyer, Mike Ezekhome (SAN) and addressed to Miss Babatayo’s lawyer, Ojoge, Omileye and Partners, also demanded that an apology be published in at least four national dailies.
“We have been instructed to demand the following: That your client makes an outright apology and a total retraction of each and every false allegation made against and concerning our client. The said apology and retraction shall be published in four national dailies with wide circulation in Nigeria as well as on social media platforms and handles being used by your client and her hirelings,” it read.
He also demanded that the accuser make a deposit of N100 million through his chamber for battering his image.
“Your client should make a compensatory deposit of the sum of N100 million only through these chambers in favor of our client to assuage his battered image.”
