Founder of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries, Reverend Eastwood Anaba has won the admiration of football fans after he revealed he can’t wait for matches to start again.

While delivering an online sermon on Sunday, May 18, 2020, the renowned preacher shocked many Ghanaians on social media as he mentioned names of players he could not wait to see in action, all Manchester United players.

Among some names mentioned were Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandez, and David De Gea.

The coronavirus pandemic has negatively affected almost all spheres of lives including football. Global leagues and competitions have been forced to postpone games in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus.

But in the early days of May, the German Bundesliga announced its resumption after several weeks of lockdown. The return of the Bundesliga over the weekend under strict social distancing and hygienic conditions has raised hopes among many football lovers, who otherwise lost their source of fun.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Bundesliga games, Rev Eastwood Anaba expressed joy that football has finally begun again.

Clearly a Man Utd fan, Rev Anaba subtly trolled one of his junior pastors who appeared to be a Chelsea fan by mentioning all the names of footballers he wants to see.

“Yesterday the German Bundesliga started and you should see my joy because this man is a preacher but he loves his football. May God protect them and may they play football. We want the football back. I want to see Marcus Rashford in action, I want to see Bruno Fernandez back, I want to see Paul Pogba back after that long break, I’m mentioning the players I like. I’m not talking about Willian, Pastor Mike can talk about Willian when he takes the microphone, I’m not talking about Giroud, pastor Mike can talk about that one, what’s the name of their goalkeeper? Arrizaba…something [Arrizabalaga].”

“I’m talking about David Da Gea, those are my people. I’ve been talking to one of the Manchester United players and the man cannot wait to get back and play and I can’t wait to see him on the ball,” he said.

Reacting to this, one Ghanaian on social media said, “I want to start paying my tithes to this man’s church.”

Another tweeted, “I dey join this man ein Church.”
