We may have our faults and flaws in this game called politics, but we cannot dispense with certain happenings during the era of Mills/Mahama.
Time may have conspired with events to corrode certain events imprinted on our minds but we cannot easily forget the treatment meted out to Akufo-Addo in the past by the NDC.
Honing in on the topic that has engaged my thoughts, our NDC friends are strenuously trying to appeal to our conscience to distance Samuel Mahama from his elder brother, John Mahama.
They argue on the basis that Samuel is an adult just like JM and is, therefore, responsible for his actions.
Impliedly, we are not to link Samuel Mahama to John Mahama. Samuel is a different entity whereas JM is also another entity.
Two things they fail to appreciate in this whole brouhaha. Samuel Mahama’s familial relationship with Mahama has been determined by Airbus and the various courts that trialled the case to be an act of bribery.
In fact, many hold the view that JM used Samuel as the smokescreen to wheedle that cash into his pockets. It was a plain case of kickback.
More importantly, in the past, whenever Akufo-Addo’s cousin’s wife’s brother’s nephew did something, Akufo-Addo was blamed.
Whenever Akufo-Addo’s wife’s uncle’s son’s son did something, Akufo-Addo was to blame.
Surprisingly, these same apostles of fairness and objectivity are here schooling us on what to say and what not to say.
These people are now telling us Mahama is a separate entity from his brother, Samuel! The difference here is that Mahama was a direct beneficiary of Samuel’s kickbacks since it is on record that JM himself on several occasions placed calls to Airbus about the ongoing transactions between them and Ghana through his brother.
Airbusgate is an albatross on the neck of Mahama and the dire effects therein would go nowhere. Mahama does not deserve to be a president in this land.
