President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has taken pride in the implementation of one of its flagship programme, Free SHS and the benefits it has had on citizens and companies in the country.
According to him, the Free SHS policy, which its primary goal was to provide accessible and equitable education to all has not only benefitted students but industries as well.
Taking to his Facebook post to announce how companies are benefitting from the programme, President Akufo-Addo said, “The benefits derived from the implementation of the Free SHS policy are not limited to equitable access to quality education alone. There are several Ghanaian companies that have been given lifelines through the implementation of this policy.”
Citing examples of Ghanaian companies that have indirectly benefitted from the flagship programme, President Akufo-Addo said the Akosombo Textiles Limited (ATL) is one of such companies to reap the fruit of Free SHS.
The President indicated that, “Akosombo Textiles Limited (ATL) has benefited immensely from the Free SHS policy through a conscious decision by the current administration to strengthen existing companies whiles building new ones.”
Managers of ATL, speaking on the impact Free SHS has had on their business said the production and profits have increased tremendously due to the printing of school cloths and uniforms for students.
Reacting to this, President Akufo-Addo said “the overarching impact of the Free SHS policy cannot be overemphasized.”
