A former General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has passed on.

Sir John, as he is affectionately called, reportedly died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra where he was on admission at the Intensive Care Unit for treatment after contracting COVID-19

Sir John was an astute lawyer and was described as one of the most interesting characters in Ghana’s politics.

A popular statement many will remember him for is “fear delegates”, a quote that pops up every political season.
