The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa is set to address the public on the exercise to compile new voters register on Monday.
The address is expected to be delivered at 5:30pm tomorrow, June 29, 2020.
Jean Mensa, according to the Commission, will speak to the EC’s readiness towards the 38-day exercise which is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, June 30, 2020.
Last week, the electoral management body received green light from the apex court of the land after a number of legal suits seeking to impede the progress of the exercise were dismissed.
Although opposition parties like the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have asserted consistently that the EC does not stand prepared for the exercise, the Commission has insisted it is ready.
In a statement dated June 27, 2020 and signed by Joana Richter-Bekoe of the Chairpersons Secretariat, the EC announced that “ahead of the 2020 registration exercise, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Jean Mensa will address the public on the commission’s preparedness towards the 2020 voters registration exercise. The address will be live on major TV and radio networks throughout the country.”
ABC News will provide live update of the address by the EC Chairperson.
