Vice President of IMANI Ghana, Kofi Bentil, has opined that the push by the governing New Patriotic Party for the creation of new voters register may result in their electoral defeat in 2020.
According to Kofi Bentil, the voting population that contributed to the party’s nearly 1 million votes victory over the NDC in 2016 elections, may express their displeasure at the decision of the NPP to demand new voters register at all cost by voting against them.
In a social post, Kofi Bentil hinted that the floating voters who gave the NPP the massive victory in 2016 and are pissed with the party’s insistence for a new register are likely to punish the NPP for that.
He wondered why the NPP, after winning an election overwhelmingly with the register, can not repeat the same performance that brought them to power in 2016 but will insist on a new register, a call Kofi Bentil describes as “nonsense.”
With this, the IMANI Vice President concluded that he is of the feeling that a new electoral roll will spell doom for the NPP because it will make the party unpopular among floating voters hence they will consider voting for the NDC.
“I have a feeling that a new voters register will be NPPs doom. The floating voters who give them the edge over NDC will punish them for this nonsense of a new register!! If you won under NDC with this register, why can’t you repeat that!!!
Ibi here we dey,” the lawyer expressed.
