Former President, John Dramani Mahama, is optimistic the major opposition National Democratic Congress will win the upcoming December 7 elections with or without the new voters’ register.

According to him, although government has succeeded in making the Electoral Commission a puppet to implement its diabolic agenda ahead of the 2020 elections, the NDC will still come out victorious.

Speaking on the Supreme Court’s ruling on the compilation of the new voters register at a press briefing, the former President alleged that government knows it has failed citizens and may lose the upcoming general elections.

Hence, the reason ruling New Patriotic Party has joined forces with the Electoral Commission to compile a new voters’ register which will disenfranchise millions of Ghanaians, especially, now that birth certificate and the old voters’ ID card voters cannot be used as proof of identification.

Voter ID, Birth Cert. excluded from proof of citizenship list as EC is given green light to compile new register

He noted that, “With or without a new voters’ register, the NDC shall win this election by the grace of God. No politically engineered register can save this failed government from the inevitable defeat that awaits them in the next 165 days.”

Reacting to the court’s ruling in a Facebook live session, the former president expressed disappointment with the judgement.

“It is deeply regrettable that the Electoral Commission which should be independent and has carved a niche for itself as a well-respected Commission in the whole of Africa has today made itself a willing tool to the execution of this most diabolic agenda.

“The exclusion of the old voters’ ID card which has been used to conduct several elections under the current leadership of the EC and from which the current president derives his mandate is aimed at deliberately disenfranchising some Ghanaians who have forcefully been branded foreigners without any basis,” he stated.

Mahama further called on Ghanaians who yearn to see a change in the governance of this country to rise up because “where there is a will, there is a way.”
