English Premier League side Manchester United has banned its new signing, Odion Ighalo, from its training grounds to avoid contact with the team over Coronavirus fears.
The striker was signed during the January transfer winder from Chinese side Shanghai Shenua and has been put on a special training session to get him in shape for the league.
The Nigerian striker, despite joining in time for United’s trip to Spain for winter break, was made to stay in England, away from the club’s AON Complex at Carrington.
The striker is currently training at GB Taekwondo Centre in Manchester and will reunite with the team when they return from Marbella, Spain.
The club has explained that it was a precautionary measure as they observe the 14-day incubation period set as part of protocols to mitigate the spread of the deadly virus.
Ole Gunnar Solskajer explained that ‘Odion will stay in Manchester because since he has come from China in the last 14 days, the news of the virus there means we’re not sure if he’s going to be allowed back into England if he leaves the country again.
‘So he’s staying here working with a personal coach on an individual programme and his family then can settle in England as well. That’s a plus.
