Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensa-Bonsu has opined that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) made a very bad choice in selecting Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as the running mate for John Mahama.
According to the MP for Suame, former Foreign Affairs Ministers in John Mahama’s government, Hannah Tetteh would have been a better choice for the slot.
“If he (John Mahama) wanted a woman, when they were mentioning some women who have demonstrable competence who have risen through this House to establish themselves firmly in the feminist [sphere], one such person could have been Hannah Tetteh.
“She has been an MP before, she has been a Minister of Foreign Affairs – so she has learned the rules – she could have complemented President Mahama,” the Majority Leader said in an interview with journalists in Parliament.
The Minority Leader argued that Hannah Tetteh is better established in Ghana’s political landscape, compared Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang, adding that the experience in governance amassed by Hannah Tetteh is enormous, which puts her in a better position than an “inexperienced” educationist.
