Former British High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin has joined fans of Dancehall Musician, Shatta Wale in celebrating the artist’s 13-year stay in the music industry.

Some fans of the self-acclaimed Dancehall King began a trend on Twitter with the hashtag #WorldShattaMusicDay to “celebrate a king and his music”.

The trend which started on Thursday has garnered over 8,000 tweets with most people praising the artist for his works.

A video in which Shatta Wale’s song “Borjor” is heard being played at FC Barcelona’s dressing room has been circulating on social media, giving the fans something to cheer about.

Taking to his Twitter page, the Director of Diplomatic Academy at the British Foreign Office wrote:

@shattawalegh apparently it’s #WorldShattaMusicDay and I hear even Lionel Messi is dancing to #Borjor. #SM4LYF pa paa paaa and more fire.”
Shatta Wale began his music career in 2004 with the release of his hit single, “Moko Hoo”, which featured fellow Ghanaian musician Tinny.
The 35-year-old musician has songs such as “My Level”, “Mahama Paper”, “Baby (Chop Kiss)”, “Kakai”, and “Borjor” to his credit.
A fan of the artist who is said to have begun the trend on Twitter said February 7 of every year must be celebrated as “WorldShattaMusicDay” by all fans.
