Chief Executive Officer for Asante Kotoko, George Amoako has revealed that his outfit is convinced that the best man to succeed Kwesi Nyantekyi as Ghana Football Association is George Afriyie and have thus pledged their support for him, ABC News can report.

The CEO of the Kumasi-based club said George Afriyie’s manifesto stands tall amongst his competitors. He added that Mr. Afriyie’s policies are concrete and that convinced them (Kotoko) to back his candidature.

He added that their endorsement won’t be different during the election but will reflect their position now.

Kotoko Chief Executive Officer, George Amoako speaking on Kumasi-based radio Otec FM said, “We [Kotoko representatives] have been to any of the manifesto launches of the various presidential hopefuls. We have heard a whole lot about their policies with their manifestos, but George Afriyie’s stands tall amongst his competitors.

“And we don’t endorse a candidate for endorsing sake. I, George Amoako being the CEO of Kotoko has been given the mandate to endorse the candidature of George Afriyie. So, we (Asante Kotoko) have endorsed George Afriyie and that will be the same in the elections having been convinced by his policies with his manifesto.”

“The club has given me the mandate to endorse George Afriyie. And for that matter, his vote is with us” the Club CEO remarked.

George Afriyie is among six candidates cleared to contest for the presidency after being approved by the Vetting Committee.

The Ghana Football Association elections will be held on 25 October 2019.
