Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has offered to help embattled man of God, Bishop Daniel Obinim, meet his bail conditions.
The founder and leader of the International Godsway Church is still languishing in police cells after reportedly failing to meet a ₵100,000 plus three sureties bail condition.
Bishop Obimin is facing prosecution for the publication of false news and forgery of documents contrary to sections 208 and 159 respectively of the Criminal and other offences Act, (1960; Act 29).
His arrest follows a mission by the outspoken legislator to uncover what he describes as charlatans in cassocks.
But reacting to the detention of the self-styled ‘Angel,’ Mr. Agyapong said the current condition of Obinim breaks his heart as he has spent more than two days in police cells.
He also revealed that Bishop Obinim has been able to meet two of the three conditions hence was prepared to get his office to facilitate his release by standing as a surety.
“Obinim must now know he does not have any friends; he needs just one person to meet his bail condition and no one is ready to assist him but I’m ready to offer my house to bail him,” he said in an interview on Net 2 TV on Friday, May 22, 2020.
This gesture, the Assin Central MP said, is to enable the Economic and Organised Crime (EOCO) to commence its investigations into the activities of the man of God.
