The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has condemned the lynching of the 90-year-old woman accused of witchcraft at Kafaba in the Savannah Region
In a video sighted by ABC News, the deceased, Akua Denteh was slapped, kicked and whipped after a supposed soothsayer accused her of witchcraft and the cause of the underdevelopment in Kafaba.
In a statement, the gender ministry described the act as “barbaric” adding that it was perpetuated with an antiquated mentality.
“It certainly cannot be said that such antiquated mentality could still be with us in this 21st century where the world and Ghana in particular has made significant
strides in upholding the rights and dignity of women”, the statement noted.
The ministry further urged the Police Service to immediately investigate and prosecute everyone involved in her murder.
