Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has said that Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has better chance of contributing more to the NPP presidential ticket that what Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang can do for the NDC presidential ticket in the December 2020 elections.
The veteran journalist is of the view that the experience of Dr. Bawumia, who has been a running mate for three consecutive times, makes him a stronger force in this year’s elections than the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast who is now “a new fish in the river.”
Speaking on Newsfile on Saturday, Kweku Baako said it will be a very difficult to even attempt to compare the brief stint the educationist had at the Education Ministry during the NDC administration to the record of Dr. Bawumia as Vice President.
“We are going to look at her professtional track record. We will look at her political track record. We have to compare and combine all those things. Bawumia had not had any political exposure as far as I can recollect before his first appointment as running mate to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, but we have passed that stage, relative to Bawumia.
“He has been running mate twice or thrice and he is going for his fourth. He is the Vice President for nearly four years. So its not easy to compare them in that sense. There would not be much grounds,” Kweku Baako stated.
He however noted that despite the enormous political experience Dr. Bawumia bring to the NPP ticket, t the gender of John Mahama’s running mate should not be underestimated because it has the potential to sweep enough votes from the “women constituency.”
