Manager of Citi FM and Citi TV, Samuel Attah-Mensah, also known as Sammens has called for the building of more local business champions who will help the country in times of need.

According to Sammens, many foreign entrepreneurs who have built empires in the country have not contributed much to the present COVID-19 situation Ghana finds itself in but it took Zoomlion Ghana limited, a company which has been run down by Ghanaians to rescue the country.

The waste management giant is one of the organizations which has been at the forefront of Ghana’s COVID-19 fight in terms of sanitation by partnering with the Local Government and Rural Development Ministry to fumigate markets across the country.

Despite its contribution to sanitation in the country, the company, since its inception in 2006 has been branded inefficient in delivering its mandate for which they are awarded huge contracts by successive governments.

But in a Twitter post sighted by ABC News, Sammens wrote, “And when things got this critical we couldn’t find the foreign entrepreneurs who have built empires in Ghana over the years. It took the most vilified local entrepreneur, Zoomlion to salvage the situation. Lesson: Let’s build more local business champions.”
