Iran’s Deputy Health Minister, Iraj Harirchi, has tested positive for the Coronavirus.
The minister has since been isolated to prevent the further spread of the disease. The news was confirmed by Iran’s Health Ministry’s media adviser.
Reports say Iraj Harirchi had spoken with the media on Monday denying claims from a Member of Parliament that 50 people had died from the virus in the country.
According to official numbers released by the Health Ministry on Tuesday, 15 people have died out of 95 confirmed cases in Iran.
As of Tuesday, February 25, reports on the update of the deadly Coronavirus indicated that Italy has discovered its first case outside of the quarantined area in the north of the country.
Austria and Croatia have also recorded their first cases.
The virus has now infected more than 80, 000 globally, killing at least 3, 000.
