Ignore E-levy “doomsayers”; implementation challenges under control – Finance Minister

Must Read

Fnance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has assured the public that the challenges surrounding the implemention of the controversial Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) will not result in any cataclysmic events as predicted by some members of the NDC.

The Minister made this remark on Thursday, May 12 in an interaction with the media in Accra.

Admitting that there have been certain challenges with the implementation of the levy, he noted that such initial problems were expected since every technological innovation is prone to challenges.

He therefore assured the public the government has the challenges under control as the relevant state institutions are working assiduously to resolve all the concomitant issues with the implementation of the levy in order to smoothen the system.

Ken Ofori-Atta again called on the public to totally reject pronoucements by some members of the NDC since their predicted chaos and confusion based on the challenges with the implementation of the E-levy will not materialize.

“I don’t know of any program which has technology involved that will not have problems. But certainly the cataclysmic pronouncement by our people on the other side is not happening. We pretty much have it under control as much as we can. We started on the 1st, we were blessed with a period of a holiday so we saw the issues and we began to tackle them. Will there continue to be certain technical issues? There will be,” the Finance Minister told the press.
