John Dumelo, National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has pledged to change the lives of slum dwellers in his constituency if voted into office.
According to the actor-turned-politician, even though the constituency is described as a sprawling residential and commercial area, people “live in slums and have to cross rivers” to their various destinations.
In a snap story of John Dumelo, sighted by ABC News, the first-time Parliamentary Candidate wrote: “A lot of people are asking if this is in Ayawaso West. Yes. This is West Legon, People live in slums are and have to cross “rivers” before going to school and to work. I’m here to change their lives.”

The Ayawaso West Wuogon seat, which is likely to court the attention of many for the December 2020 election, was last won by the NDC in 1996 by Rebecca Akweley Adotey.
From then to the last by-election held in 2019, the seat has been in the firm grips of the governing New Patriotic Party.
Despite this history, the actor has repeatedly expressed confidence in winning the seat from the current officeholder, Lydia Seyram Alhassan.
