Following his interpretation of the Supreme Court ruling on the new voter register which later turned to be a gaffe, General Secretary of the opposition NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia is insisting that he still stands by his interpretation of the “confusing” ruling.
According to Johnson Asiedu Nketia, widely known in political circles as General Mosquito, to the best of his knowledge the apex court’s ruling last week on the NDC/EC case on the compilation of a new voters’ register is the most bizzare ruling he has ever witnessed in his entire political career.
Speaking in an interview monitored by ABC News, the NDC scribe rubbished the ruling on grounds that it does not make any legal sense, although he is not a legal practitioner.
General Mosquito said he therefore stands by is earlier comment about the ruling, which he described as very confusing.
“How can you subject a constitutional article to a C I – have you heard of this before? It is assumed that some of the rights of the CI has been accrued under CI 126 however, the CI 126 is new and has no accrual rights. So how can you be saying yes on one breath and no on another breath. We should have gone back for interpretation of the confusion they intentionally created for clarity,” he explained.
He emphasized that “I have not changed by position, I still stand by my comment. Had it not been that they ruled that such matters should not be brought before them again, we would have gone back for explanation because it does not make sense. It really does not make sense.”
