Veteran actress and media personality, Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono has expressed regret in voting for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and campaigning for New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She explained that despite her active role in campaigning for the NPP, she was abandoned after they won elections.
Maame Dokono recalled how she was left unattended to when she fell sick, saying “recently I fell sick very seriously – Nana didn’t even come to my house. He was aware I was sick but there was no sign of him.”
She said the President didn’t even send anyone to visit her in her sick bed, and she finds that very disturbing.
“That is why I’m advising that you (celebrities) to always be in the middle so that you can take opportunities from both sides”, she said on in an interview on TV XYZ.
According to her, engaging in partisan politics is one of her biggest mistakes so she is advising her colleague celebrities against engaging in active politics.
“If it is possible to turn back the clock, I would never venture into it (politics). Now I have quit and I’m a neutral person waiting to take an opportunity. I won’t come out and show where I belong,” she added.
She also mentioned that her political affiliation to NPP affected her acting career.
