Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has disclosed that he has no plans to contest the NPP’s presidential candidate position hence has no presidential ambitions.

According to the Minister, he is satisfied with the role he is playing in the current NPP administration adding that his preoccupation is to use his financial and economic prowess to ensure the success of the government.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana show on Thursday, the very religious Ken Ofori Atta stated that he believes God’s purpose for him is to provide technical support to the government and not to be president.

“Sometimes, people believe that it’s their energies and their intellect that brought them in [politics] but I just firmly believe that the LORD needs you and gives you the energy to do a specific job and when you begin to mission-creep is when you shipwreck,” he stated.

He continued that “but what I believe He has purposed me to do which is to be technical [and] to use my brain and to support that”.

“I think we should all understand what our God-given attributes are and not stretch it beyond what He has not mandated us to do,” he noted.

Mr Ofori-Atta, however, believes the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will still be in government in 2025 given the current policies being implemented under his ministerial supervision.
