“I’m 100 percent healthy and ready for Saturday night” – Lomachenko ahead of Commey fight

Ukrainian boxer, Vasiliy Lomachenko has expressed his readiness ahead of his bout against Ghana’s Richard Commey at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.

The former WBA and WBO lightweight champion returns to boxing ring after a two-year absence.

Lomachenko saw his career hit a major bump when he lost to Teofimo Lopez in October 2020. However, the 33-year-old bounced back by seeing off Masayoshi Nakatani over the summer but he’ll need to put on a show against Commey if he is to set up another world title shot next year.

“Richard Commey has big power, reach and experience. This is an interesting challenge for me, and I know it’s a fight the fans are excited to watch,” Lomachenko said.

“I am 100 percent healthy and ready for Saturday night. I can’t wait. Madison Square Garden is like a second home for me. So many great moments in my career have taken place at Madison Square Garden.

He added, “I won the lightweight title against Jorge Linares in that arena, so returning there brings back many great memories.”

“My goals keep me motivated, one of which is to become undisputed champion. Commey is one of the division’s most dangerous fighters, and he is the one standing in my way.”
