The Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service, on Monday, June 15, 2020, took statements of journalists with Accra-based, Hot FM.
The journalists comprising – host of the Morning Show, Isaac Boamah-Darko, and two producers – Awal Saeed Mohammed and one other lady identified as ‘Gargantuan Lady’ were invited to assist the Police in investigations into the case of a pastor who was arrested for threatening to kill EC Chair, Jean Mensah.
The self-styled man of God was subsequently interrogated during which a parcel of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found on him leading to his remand into police custody by an Accra District Court.
“It would be appreciated if you could release the host of the show, Mr. Isaac Darko Boamah, Mr. Awal Saeed Mohammed, and the said lady to report to Superintendent/IU at the CID headquarters, 4th floor Room 13, on Monday, 15/06/2020 at 1000 hours to assist investigations,” an invitation to the three noted.
Speaking in an interview with ABC News after his appearance before the CID, the Hot FM Morning Show host stated that the interrogation was calm and brief.
Summarising what transpired, he indicated “We gave a statement” and, “they said they will call me” back if I am needed for further investigation.
The pastor, Apostle Kwabena Owusu Agyei is the General Overseer of the Hezekiah Prayer Ministries.
He was picked up last week Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at a ‘coded’ location believed to be his house where he was conducting a live interview when some National Security operatives arrested him over his death threats.
