Minister for Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu has disclosed that government is planning to introduce National COVID-19 Vaccination Days in order to enhance the country’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
Government, through its vaccination program, has made it mandatory for all civil servants, including health workers, security personnel, and teachers, to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.
In addition, the mandate requires patrons of public places such as beaches, restaurants, nightclubs, stadia among others to show proof of full vaccination.
Addressing the media on recent developments in the country’s fight against the pandemic on Wednesday, Mr. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu explained that order to boost the coverage of the vaccine mandate, the government is planning to launch National COVID-19 Vaccination Days to enhance the exercise.
“On the issue of vaccine mandates, we will be focusing on some selected persons and venues while we get reasonable number of Ghanaians vaccinated. In view of this, we are planning to have a National COVID-19 Vaccination Days to boost coverage among the general population,” the Minister for Health told the media.
He therefore indicated that, “further details will be announced in due course of when and how we are going to do the vaccination days.”
