Former President John Dramani Mahama’s choice of running mate for the upcoming December 7 elections has garnered a lot of support from a section of Ghanaians on social media, especially Twitter.

Although this is not the first time a political party in the country has chosen a woman as a running mate, many believe the time has come for the country to have a female Vice President.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress on July 6 reportedly agree unanimously John mahama’s choice of running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang who is the first female running mate for a major political party in the country, will become Ghana’s first female Vice President if the NDC wins the December polls.

While some political scientists believe the NDC made a wrong choice in selecting Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang, a number of Ghanaians have taken to social media to express their satisfaction with Mahama’s choice.

The thought of having a female Vice President appears to have attracted a lot of goodwill on Twitter with many expressing their satisfaction and support for Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang with the hashtag ImWithHer.
