The National Identification Authority (NIA) has extended the duration for the mass registration exercise for the Ghana Card in the Northern, Savannah and North East Regions, ABC News can report.
The one-week extension starts from Wednesday, October 23 to Wednesday, October 30, 2019.
In a statement signed by its Head of Corporate Affairs, ACI Francis Palmdeti and sighted by ABC NEWS, the NIA announced that all registration centres will continue to register applicants till Wednesday 30th October 2019.
The authority has, therefore, entreated all prospective applicants to take advantage of the new window to get registered and obtain their cards.
It went on to assure the public that by March 2020, the NIA will establish offices at the Regional, Municipal and District levels to offer an opportunity for every Ghana who, for a reason or the other, could not get registered to do so.
“All prospective applicants are entreated to take advantage of the extension period to get registered. Permanent NIA offices will be established at the Regional, Municipal and District levels by March 2020 to afford all Ghanaians who were not registered during the mass registration exercise the opportunity to get registered and be issued with the Ghana Card for free,” the statement said.
