ABC News has obtained a copy of the Guidelines for Comprehensive Sexual Education which is to be introduced in the curriculum for basic education from the start of the academic year.
The new curriculum has been divided into two parts – the first targeted at school pupils from ages 4-18 years and the second part designed for community-based education of adolescents and young adults from ages 6-24 years.
The new curriculum has divided public opinion with some parents and stakeholders suggesting that it is a subtle attempt to introduce LGBTIQ concept to Ghanaians.
Others are of the view that the new policy is timely and gives children the needed exposure to sexual concepts that many cultures and parents shy away from but are relevant.
