Family of three consisting of a couple and their three-year-old son have been shot and burnt to death in their Pick up vehicle by unknown assailants ABC News has gathered.
The Prampram Divisional Police Commander, ACP Dodzi Hlordzi, confirmed this tragic incident on Friday on Accra based Adom FM. He said the man, named Quao Omar, a 50-year-old livestock farmer was going to fetch water at Saglemi when the attackers shot him in the bush. Dally Tetteh, the wife, and their three-old son were also killed before they were set ablaze in their pick-up truck.
“When we got to the scene, we saw three bullet shells near their vehicle which had the charred bodies,” ACP Tetteh noted.
The charred bodies of the deceased family have been deposited in the morgue as police launch investigations into the incident and also on a manhunt for the assailant.
When contacted, the District Chief Executive for the area expressed shock over the incident. According to Jonathan Teye Doku, the crime scene is a very familiar area to him since he plies that route almost every day. However, the area is not noted for such crimes since as far as he can remember, such a heinous crime has never been recorded in the area.
He is therefore pleading with residents and the general citizenry to assist the police in rounding up these assailants who are on the run.
“I’m shocked because I use that route every day; it is my village and such a thing has never happened before,” he said.
The Ningo-Prampram DCE appealed to the residents to remain calm as they investigate the issue and bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to book. As an immediate measure, the DCE says he will convey a District Security Council (DISEC) meeting to beef up security in the area.
