Ex-Ghana and Kotoko defender Godfred Yeboah dies aged 41

Former Ghana and Asante Kotoko defender Godfred Yeboah has died aged 41 after a long illness.

Yeboah capped three times for the Black Stars, spent eight years at Kotoko where he won three league titles in 2003, 2005, and the 2007/08 season.

He was also a member of the Porcupine Warriors team that won the Ghanaian FA Cup in 2001.

The defender also figured for Wa All Stars (now Legon Cities) and Ashanti Gold SC.

A statement from Kotoko said: “We’re saddened to hear of the passing of Godfred Yeboah who represented us from 2001 to 2009.

“His passion for the club was undeniable and he will be missed. We send our condolences to his family, friends, and everyone who cherished him.”
