Manchester City midfielder, Kevin de Bruyne has been adjudged English Premier League Player of the Season by the BBC.
The award which is solely based on popular votes saw the Belgian garner almost half of the votes, 49%.
He was up against EPL winners of the season Liverpool players Virgil Van Dijk, Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane as his key competitors.
Henderson received lots of commendation after leading his side to end a 30-year EPL trophy drought winning the league in record time.
However, it wasn’t enough to convince fans to vote in his favour.
Other award winners were – Manager of the season: Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool), Young player of the season: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Surprise player of the season: Danny Ings (Southampton), Women’s player of the season: Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal).
De Bruyne led his team to second in the league this season and are still in the race for the UEFA Champions League this season.
He equalled Thiery Henry’s 20-assist a season record set in 2002 on the last day of the season.
