The Electoral Commission has rectified and re-issued voter cards with wrong bio-data of applicants.
It would be recalled that images of some newly issued voter ID cards surfaced on the internet with noticeable wrong personal details of the owners.
One of the cards had a wrong date of birth of the owner, while another one had the picture of the lady, but it was labelled “MALE”.
In a statement signed by the Public Affairs Director of the EC, Sylvia Annoh, the Commission indicated that it has traced one of the the said cards to a polling station with the code M133502 in Tamale and their Regional Director has confirmed that, the problem has since been corrected and the card re-issued to the applicant.
The Commission also explained that applicants are given the opportunity to verify their details before the card is printed but the applicants in this case failed to correct the errors before the card was issued.
The commission further mentioned that, after the registration exercise, the exhibition process “will afford all voters the opportunity to correct errors on their bio-metric information”.
